CEIR reports exhibition industry grew 4.8% in 2006

Dallas—The exhibition industry grew by 4.8% last year over 2005, according to the CEIR (Center for Exhibition Industry Research) Index Report.

The index is based on four metrics: revenue, attendees, net square feet and exhibitors.

Last year, revenue increased 9.7% over the previous year; attendees increased 4.6%; net square feet, 3.8%; and exhibitors, 1.3%.

Industries leading last year’s growth were professional business services (up 11.1%),; raw materials and science (up 10.0%), transportation (up 9.4%), building and construction (up 9.2%) and food (up 7.4%).

Nearly 300 events contributed data for the report.
