Ceradyne wins $5.3 million order

Costa Mesa, Calif.—Ceradyne Inc. has won a $5.3 million order from the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency to build lightweight ceramic inserts that will go in U.S. Army armor. The company won the contract after delivering the first commercial version of its product to potential buyers in November. Production and shipments will occur over four months. Joel Moskowitz, Ceradyne CEO, said it is the largest single order in company history.
