Cingular taps CRM, sports specialists

Atlanta--Cingular Wireless said Thursday that it has hired Ant Farm Interactive to develop a customer relationship management platform, while Velocity Sports & Entertainment will spearhead sports marketing. The assignments are designed to extend brand identity for Cingular, which is a joint venture between SBC Communications and BellSouth. The Ant Farm assignment marks Cingular's first effort to build a CRM system to track all of its customer's interactions with the company regardless of the mode of communication. Cingular has an array of sports marketing deals with local NBA, NBA, NHL and MLB teams, but Velocity will assist in national sports-marketing contracts.
