Cisco tapped for Chinese Internet venture

San Jose, Calif. - Cisco Systems Inc. said Friday that it has been tapped by China United Telecommunications Corp. to help expand its communications network in a deal valued at $40 million. The deal includes Cisco's routers, switchers and access servers. The program, which begins this month and will be rolled out over the next year and a half, will extend throughout 321 cities across 30 Chinese provinces.
