CMP acquires Mass Events Labs for $1.2 million

Manhasset, N.Y.—Technology publisher CMP announced Thursday that it has acquired Mass Events Labs, a producer of “unconference-style and custom events,” for $1.2 million.

Mass Events Labs produces events such as Mashup Camp, in which next-generation developers decide which application program interfaces to develop and which platforms will succeed online. It will join CMP’s Business Technology Group, which includes such events as BlackHat, Enterprise 2.0, Interop, Web 2.0 and VoiceCon.

David Berlind, principal-chief content officer of Mass Events Labs and former executive editor of CNET Networks, has joined CMP as Interop’s executive conference director and as a TechWeb blogger.
