CMP ad pages decline 4.4% in March

London--United Business Media, owner of CMP Media L.L.C., reported Thursday that CMP's ad page volume decreased 4.4% in March compared with March 2003.

The rate of decline appears to be slowing, though.

For the first three months of this year, CMP’s continuing titles declined a total of 10.8% compared with the first quarter of last year.

Three key publications showed page gains last month compared with a year earlier: InformationWeek (6%), CRN (21.6%) and VAR Business (95%).

Nonetheless, negatives are still the story at CMP and elsewhere in tech media. EE Times was more typical of the performance in CMP’s stable, posting a 21.5% decrease in ad pages last month compared with March 2002.
