CMP on profitability course

Published on .

London--Thanks to cost cuts and steadier advertiser spending, CMP Media remains on course to “resume profitability this year,” United Business Media chairman Geoff Unwin said in a statement Thursday.

CMP has also continued to build market share in technology publishing, he said.

Unwin was also pleased with PR Newswire’s performance in the U.S. as well as CMP Information’s results in the U.K.

“United has made a solid start to the year,” he said.

The SARS outbreak, however, is jeopardizing results at CMP Asia. “The outbreak has brought considerable uncertainty to the near term trading prospects in Hong Kong, and we estimate that earning up to 8 million pounds could be at risk in the first half of the year," Unwin said.
