Manhasset, N.Y. -- CMP Media, publishers of InformationWeek
and Computer Reseller News,
released a study challenging the reported migration of tech marketer advertising dollars away from specialty computer magazines to more broad-based media. CMP surveyed both information systems and management personnel about their involvement in IS buying decisions. The responses indicated that IS personnel (81%) were more involved than management personnel (39%) in IT vendor selection. Nonetheless, the data also indicated that management had ultimate control of the purse strings: 70% of managers authorize purchases, but only 60% of IS personnel do so.
