New York--CMP Media Inc. plans to relaunch Web Techniques, its strategy and infrastructure magazine for Internet managers, as New Architect. The monthly New Architect will debut in March. In addition to covering Internet product information, the focus of Web Techniques, it will concentrate on business factors to be considered when making a purchasing decision. “To better serve [readers], we're going to focus closely on the critical decisions leaders must make when planning a technology architecture,” said Amit Asaravala, editor in chief of New Architect, in a statement. “And we're going to demonstrate how the Internet and emerging technologies solve actual business problems.”The news comes as CMP, which like many technology publishers, struggles with a slumping ad market. Last month, it shuttered Tele.com, its service provider magazine. Despite the onerous business environment, CMP has been more aggressive than most tech publishers in terms of expansion. For example, it recently launched Optimize, a 70,000 circulation monthly aimed at C-level business technology executives. It is also investing heavily in its flagship technology magazine, Information Week.
