CNET posts higher revenue, profit

San Francisco—CNET Networks reported fourth-quarter revenue of $89.2 million, a 21% increase from $73.5 million for the same period in 2003. Net income was $9.2 million, up from $6.9 million.

Excluding special items, net income for the fourth quarter was $14.6 million.

For the first quarter of this year, CNET said it anticipates total revenue of $71 million to $74 million. Interactive revenue is expected to be in the range of $66 million to $68 million, and publishing revenue is expected to be between $5 million and $6 million. Management estimated an operating loss of between $600,000 and $2.6 million for the first quarter.
