Commerce One, Ariba announce rival products at user conferences

Published on .

Miami and Las Vegas--At dueling user conferences this week, e-marketplace vendors Ariba Inc., Mountain View, Calif., and Commerce One Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., will be spinning out news and new products. The biggest news Monday morning: Commerce One said it has won a contract with eHiTex.com, the electronics marketplace from Compaq, Hewlett-Packard and others. EHiTex.com competes with the recently launched e2Open.com, which runs on technology from Ariba, IBM and i2 Technologies. Also this morning, Ariba made a series of product announcements, including AribaLive, a new implementation methodology and tool kit to help Net markets more quickly get marketplaces up and running; and Network Connect, tools for integrating buyers and suppliers into Net markets featuring technology from IBM, Tibco Software and webMethods.
