Commerce One consolidates Exterprise

Pleasanton, Calif.--Transaction specialist Commerce One Inc. has snapped up collaborative commerce software and services company Exterprise Inc. for about $70 million in stock. The deal underscores rapid consolidation in the b-to-b commerce arena, including Ariba Inc.'s $720 million purchase of Agile Software Inc., i2 Technologies Inc.'s planned purchase of RightWorks Corp. and FreeMarkets Inc.'s deal to buy Adexa Inc. Commerce One CEO Mark Hoffman said Exterprise will help Commerce One develop custom b-to-b applications specifically tailored for individual companies, industries or regions.
