Commerce One delivers stellar quarter

Pleasanton, Calif.--In good news for the e-marketplace sector, vendor Commerce One Inc., whose focus has been on serving large public e-markets, turned in strong fourth-quarter earnings. Commerce One lost $10.8 million for the quarter, less than expected, on revenues of $191.4 million. CEO Mark Hoffman called the e-marketplace opportunity "bigger than ever." Commerce One said it expected to post its first quarterly profit by the second quarter and raised the guidance on its sales targets in 2001 more than $100 million, to just short of $1 billion.
