New York—Communications industry merger and acquisition activity was up in the first three quarters of this year compared with the same period last year, according to a report from media investment bank Jordan, Edmiston Group.
Overall, the number of communications industry M&A transactions increased 31.2%, from 237 in the first three quarters of 2003 to 311 in the same period this year. In the same time frame, deal value jumped 45.3%, from $10.8 billion to $15.7 billion.
The number of b-to-b magazine deals grew 25%, from 24 to 30, and the value of the deals increased 171.6%, from $409 million to $1.1 billion.
The number of exhibition industry deals remained flat at 16, but the value of deals increased dramatically between 2003 and 2004, jumping 558.5%, from $96 million to $634 million.
