ComScore debuts Device Essentials

Reston, Va.—ComScore Inc. has rolled out a new service that reports digital traffic by device. Called Device Essentials, the service measures online traffic via e-readers, cell phones, music players, tablets and other Web-enabled devices. “Using comScore's proprietary global UDM data set, we have been able to develop an expansive profile of traffic patterns across device type, connection type and geography,” said Serge Matta, comScore's exec VP-telecom and wireless, in a statement. ComScore's data showed Android phones leading, with 35.6% of noncomputer Web traffic in the United States. In second place was the iPhone, with 23.5% of noncomputer traffic. In third place was the iPad, which accounted for 21.8% of noncomputer traffic.
