ComScore launches Widget Metrix

Published on .

Reston, Va. —ComScore announced the launch of comScore Widget Metrix, a service designed to track the usage of widgets across the Web.

Web widgets are data files that can be embedded into a site’s HTML code and are typically displayed in a small viewing pane on a Web site. They are generally used to display customized or personalized content on a Web site in order to share photos or music recommendations, for example, and are commonly found on blogs and other social networking sites, as well as other personalized pages.

ComScore’s analysis in April of the top 10 Web widgets worldwide revealed that photo-related widgets dominate the top positions.
