Ottawa--Struggling software provider Corel Corp. introduced Wednesday a professional services group intended to provide consulting services and support to the company’s enterprise, government and academic customers.

Corel’s professional services team is intended to make use of the company’s recent acquisitions of Micrografx Inc. and SoftQuad Software Ltd. to provide enhanced services and support to large organizations.

Corel professional services will support all of the company’s software products, including XMetaL, WordPerfect Office, Corel Ventura, CorelDraw, Corel Designer and the iGrafx line of enterprise management software.

The group is led by Joe Sparks, who most recently served as VP-business development and global alliances for Data Return Corp.

Corel’s stock closed Tuesday at 96 cents a share on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
