Crain Communications buys Emap Communications’ polymer publications and events in Europe

Detroit—Expanding its footprint in the global plastics industry, Crain Communications Inc. Friday announced that it has acquired the polymer publications and events division of Croydon, U.K.-based Emap Communications. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition includes two publications: Plastics & Rubber Weekly (11,800 circ.) and the monthly European Plastics News (13,800 circ.). The deal also includes Emap’s Plastics Design & Moulding exhibition, an annual U.K. industry awards event, and about a dozen European-based conferences. Publishing and Events Director Andrew Beevers is moving to Crain and will be in charge of a team of 18 people based in Croydon. With the acquisition, Tony Eagan, VP-publisher at Crain’s Plastics News, has been promoted to group publisher and will oversee Plastics News, Plastics & Rubber Weekly and European Plastics News. Crain Communications is the publisher of BtoB.
