Crain's Social Media Group: A New Division of Crain Communications' BtoB Marketing Services

Crain Communications, through its BtoB Magazine Marketing Services unit, has launched a new division, Crain's Social Media Group, to provide consulting services to businesses nationwide. Social media training and strategic planning will be the initial focus of Crain's Social Media Group. Its services will include customized social media training seminars; personalized executive coaching; social media audits; and strategic social media planning and execution. The group will focus on be all types of companies, and it will also offer specialized training to media companies. Crain's Social Media Group will be a part of Crain's BtoB magazine group, which publishes BtoB Magazine and Media Business. Overseeing the new services will be Tracy Samantha Schmidt, the director of training and strategy at Crain's Social Media Group. Most recently, she worked as a social media trainer and consultant for the Tribune Media Group in Chicago. While at Tribune, Tracy co-created ChicagoNow, a network of 350 blogs. She also created a nationwide social media training program and personally taught more than 2,500 people in 2011. Before joining the Tribune in 2008, Tracy reported for Time Magazine in Washington, D.C. and covered a range of subjects, including the rise of social media. She also taught several graduate classes on social media at DePaul University. Tracy earned her master's degree at the University of Illinois College of Media, where she is now a guest lecturer. “Clearly social media is incredibly important in today's business communications mix," said BtoB Publisher Bob Felsenthal.
