CRM market poised for big growth

Boston--AMR Research predicts that the customer relationship management market will reach $16.8 billion by the year 2003, with a compound annual growth rate of 49% over the next five years, according to the firm's study, ``Customer Relationship Management Software Report, 1998-2003,'' released this week. Total 1998 revenue for the CRM market was $2.3 billion. AMR Research also predicted that the larger enterprise resource planning vendors will move into the CRM market, often by acquiring smaller vendors. Based on 1998 revenue, the top CRM vendor was Siebel Systems, San Mateo, Calif.
