New York—Total spending on custom content per company surveyed was $1.9 million this year, the highest level ever, according to the 2011 “Spending Study,” a survey conducted annually by the Custom Content Council with “Content Wise,” a newsletter covering custom content. The study, which was conducted online and via postal mail, consisted of about 200 completed surveys from a random sample of companies in a variety of industries. The survey found that branded content accounted for 26% of overall marketing spending. Thirty percent of respondents said their content marketing budgets would increase in 2012, and 39% said spending would increase on electronic content.
