DELTA AIR LINES Agency: Wieden+Kennedy, New York The big idea here is the word “up.” The spot is superbly executed with a series of quick cuts that take the viewer ever skyward. The spot begins in the bowels of an airport as a pilot taps the up button on an elevator. The monochromatic imagery is stunning as the camera ascends past the luggage carousel, the tarmac, the sky club, the control tower—before it's wheels-up and the Delta aircraft soars gracefully above the clouds. Voice-over by actor Donald Sutherland reminds business travelers that Delta has been making serious investments to get them to their destinations in a comfortable and timely manner. The spot reminds us of a long-ago time when flying was truly an elegant experience. Rating:
