Fort Atkinson, Wis.—Cygnus Business Media has consolidated its aviation industry affinity group into its diversified group. With the move, the positions of two aviation group executives—Exec VP Patrick Nadler and VP-marketing Charla Sheffield—were eliminated.
Separately, Rob Price, senior VP of Cygnus Expositions, also left the company.
Cygnus CEO John French said the moves are not a reflection of the company's overall health. “We are growing in revenue and we are up in profits,” he said in an interview with BtoB.
He said that while three of the company's affinity groups (agriculture, construction, and public safety and security) were performing well, the aviation affinity group, in part because of market conditions, had not met expectations. To run the business more efficiently, French made the decision to fold the aviation group into Cygnus's diversified group, which includes logistics and accounting brands.
