Database firms offer marketers chance to recoup

Broomfield, Colo.--DoubleClick Inc.'s Abacus unit and I-Behavior Inc., Harrison, N.Y., announced initiatives to help direct marketers recoup losses from direct mail efforts that were disrupted by the terrorist attacks. I-Behavior is offering to match postal addresses with e-mail addresses for a cost of $25 per thousand, one-sixth its normal price. Abacus is encouraging companies that use its services to share best practices, including advising on whether direct mail programs that are in progress should be postponed or cancelled.
