London--A new report by research firm Datamonitor predicts global enterprise investment in firewall and virtual private networks (VPNs) will reach almost $6 billion by 2007, double that of 2003.

North America will remain the largest market for firewall and VPN services, generating revenue of $2.6 billion by 2007, followed by Latin America and the Asia-Pacific area, the report found.

Datamonitor said it expects investment in security by the government, utilities and pharmaceutical sectors to show the most rapid rise over the next three years.
