Dell agrees to buy Samsung parts

Published on .

Austin--Dell Computer Corp. has agreed to buy a projected $16 billion worth of computer parts from South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. over the next four years. The estimated value of the deal is based on Dell's undisclosed projections for PC sales growth. However, the agreement with Samsung isn't exclusive, and Dell will continue to order parts such as memory chips, display screens and monitors from other suppliers. Dell has struggled in recent months because of the slowdown in PC sales.
