DemandTec gets $16.7M from Cargill, Altos and Athena

San Francisco--DemandTec Inc., a b-to-b software developer, has received a $16.7 million venture financing investment from Cargill Corp., Altos Ventures and Athena Technology Ventures. The financing will be used for general business purposes and marketing. Cargill, one of the world's largest grain producers and agricultural marketers, is a technology-oriented company; last year, it tapped GE Global eXchange Services to develop trading platforms to link Cargill with its suppliers.
