San Francisco--A major German banker has tapped a Sun Microsystems Inc.-Netscape Communications Corp. alliance to handle b-to-b payment over the Internet. Deutsche Bank AG, Frankfurt, Germany, said it has signed a deal with iPlanet E-Commerce Solutions to offer its BillerXpert B2B Edition software for bill presentment and payment on exchanges in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Deutsche Bank will host the services, which allow companies to finalize transactions created over the Internet. The move is significant because payment companies such as iPlanet need trusted financial brands such as Deutsche Bank to gain acceptance for their platforms.
