New York--Jupiter Media Metrix has released a report stating that Internet delivery of old content has the potential to be a $6.3 billion market by 2006, but only 73% of those potential dollars will be captured by companies that own the rights. That's because content owners falsely assume "they can single-handedly market and distribute their archives directly to consumers via paid and ad-supported services, rather than through third-party audience aggregators,'' the research firm said. Partnerships will be key to success, the firm said. The value of archived content will reach $2.2 billion this year, Jupiter said.
