Goal: "To truly add value to the Web experience for customer segments of Fortune 1000 corporations."
Most Fortune 1000 marketers have too little time to build and update client- and industry-specific portals. David Ceolin’s company, Digital Cement Inc., can do the work for them.

Digital Cement develops and maintains corporate marketing portals for b-to-b companies such as FedEx Corp. and 3Com Corp. The portals, handled entirely in-house by Digital Cement, are intended to be virtual marketing arms. They can include everything from pricing updates to marketing messages.

The idea, said Digital Cement founder and CEO David Ceolin, is to give marketers’ customers a reason to use their sites. "Corporate marketers need to engage audiences at their Web sites," Ceolin said.

It’s a lesson that some marketers have forgotten. "Some companies have started to look at the Web only as a corporate efficiency system and forgotten its early promise."

Digital Cement can build direct e-mail marketing programs into its clients’ portals. "We can take their products and map them throughout their portal’s content, and through attachments that drive people to purchase," Ceolin said.
