  • Percent of business titles offering digital editions: About 1%-2%
  • Percent of business titles expected to offer digital editions in five years: 10%-25%
  •  For a typical publication, percent of readers converting from print to digital: 8%-10% Strategy

The primary reasons publishers offer digital editions:

  • Cost savings (printing and delivery); 25-30 cents per issue delivered
  • Ability to target hard-to-reach readers (i.e., international)
  • Sampling (i.e., low-cost test issues)

Subscriber patterns

  • Download rates for a digital edition: Paid, 90%; nonpaid controlled, 20%-60%
  • Open rates for a digital edition, business/ trade title: 12%-20%
