Direct marketing employment plans hold steady

Published on .

Owatonna, Minn.—Direct marketing employment rates are holding steady for the first quarter of the new year, according to a survey by Bernhart Associates Executive Search.

“The new hiring indicator is holding up well,” said Jerry Bernhart, president, in a news release. “We’re seeing practically no change from the fourth quarter, which also was a good quarter for hiring.”

Sixty-six percent of respondents said they plan to add to staff during the first quarter, down just 1 percentage point from the fourth quarter. The number of companies planning staff reductions remained at 10%, and hiring freezes planned dropped to 13%, compared with 15% in the fourth quarter.

Bernhart said demand is particularly strong for e-commerce-related positions.
