Direct marketing hiring drops off

Direct marketing hiring is beginning to slow down, according to Bernhart Associates Executive Search's quarterly hiring trends survey. Sixty-six percent of survey respondents said they planned to add staff this summer, down from 72% in the spring. Bernhart's survey found just two companies out of 118 respondents planned to reduce headcount.

Direct Media enhances DataMart

List manager Direct Media announced it has added enhanced data to its DataMart products with information provided by Alliant Cooperative Data Solutions. Direct Media also said the enhanced products would be managed by an independent sales organization, Sound Beach Marketing Partners. The move was prompted by clients' uneven mailing results from the initial release of its DataMart products last year, according to CMO Rosemarie Montroy.

Alterian expands its online platform

Alterian, a database marketer, announced it has expanded the online marketing capabilities of its Dynamic Messenger platform beyond e-mail marketing. New features include the ability to manage landing pages, e-mail templates, Web forms and online databases within a single platform, as well as the ability to deliver and track content via RSS. Through a permission-based Web interface, Dynamic Messenger can also enable separate marketing teams, interactive agencies and marketing service providers to collaborate.
