'Directional media' projected to grow, led by local search

Feb. 15 Princeton, N.J.—Yellow Pages, local search and classified advertising revenue—so-called “directional media”—will hit $119.8 billion globally in 2010, up from $109.2 billion in 2005, according to a forecast released Wednesday by the Kelsey Group.

Global local search—including Internet Yellow Pages, local search and wireless—will increase from $3.4 billion in 2005 to $13.0 billion in 2010, according to the report.

Global print Yellow Pages revenues, measured at $26.3 billion in 2005, will increase to $28.4 billion in 2010; global classified advertising revenues will decrease from $79.5 billion in 2005 to $78.5 billion in 2010, according to the report.
