Chicago—The Direct Marketing Association named LinkedIn Corp. and T-Mobile International co-Marketers of the Year for demonstrating innovation, leadership, and corporate and environmental responsibility. The presentation was made at the association’s annual conference and expo today.
LinkedIn was recognized for its leadership role in social communications, distributing news and opinions to members from 1.5 million publishers and influential business leaders. In particular DMA recognized LinkedIn for its Sponsored Updates ad unit, which delivers content into members’ news feeds from companies they don’t currently follow. That resulted in demonstrable lead generation and relationship-building, DMA said.
T-Mobile was cited for its “Uncarrier” initiative which distinguished the company from the contractual requirements of its competitors by eliminating contracts, introducing unlimited data plans and simplifying its wireless plans. The company was also recognized for overhauling its direct-to-customer communication channel.
