DMA lays off 7% of staff

New York--The Direct Marketing Association has laid off 14 employees, or 7% of its work force. The job cuts came across the organization, both in New York and Washington, with an emphasis on the seminar department. The DMA last announced layoffs in 1991, when it fired nine people. "While a reduction in positions is never easy, this reorganization will help us remain efficient in our softening economy," said H. Robert Wientzen, DMA president-CEO, in a statement.
