New York--The Direct Marketing Association has named Ben Isaacson as executive director of the Association for Interactive Media. The organization, 400 members strong, provides business-to-business networking opportunities for marketing and advertising technology companies. It also combats consumer fears about potential credit card fraud and privacy invasion over the Internet. Mr. Isaacson, who had been acting director the past six months, takes the mantle at a critical time. The issues of fraud and privacy are increasingly in the public eye. Sunday, CBS news is scheduled to run a segment on privacy, which reportedly spotlights some new marketing techniques used by DMA members. Mr. Isaacson says AIM will be initiating programs to instill confidence in Internet marketing, and work to legitimize the efforts of start-ups developing Internet marketing technology.
