DMA taps Dapper as its new chairman

By Published on .

New York—The Direct Marketing Association has moved to restore some of its vacant volunteer leadership positions by selecting as its new chairman G. Steven Dapper, chairman and founder of agency Hawkeye.

Dapper previously served as chairman-CEO of agencies Wunderman and Rapp Collins. He is vacating his position as DMA treasurer to take on his new role. A successor in that position has not been announced.

The role of DMA chairman became vacant when Eugene R. Raitt resigned in April. Raitt, who is senior VP-accident and health, and CMO, Asia for Allied World Assurance Co., cited job pressures as the reason for his resignation.

In addition, the DMA board named as its new vice chairman Don McKenzie, CEO of direct marketing services company Direct Group. He succeeds David S. Williams, president-CEO of Merkle Inc., who stepped down earlier this year.
