New York--DoubleClick Inc. has launched a series of anti-spam initiatives that it says will help the e-mail industry "leverage policy, research, education and technology, in the fight against spam" and further differentiate legitimate e-mail marketing from spam. The initiatives include a quarterly report on governmental and Internet service provider developments, research in partnership with AOL on consumer spam, and a half-day conference on spam to be held this fall. "We are absolutely committed to helping the industry in its search for a solution to spam, and we are determined that a solution be both pro-consumerand pro-legitimate marketer," Scott Knoll, VP-general manager of DoubleClick's Marketer Solutions Division, said. "Only a combination of legislation, technology, education and industry cooperation can bring about an ultimate end to this problem."
