Published on .

Richmond, Va.--B-to-b media company Douglas Publications Inc. announced it has acquired four magazines published by Hughes Communications Inc., Rockford, Ill. The publications are Human Capital, Sales & Marketing Strategies and News, President & CEO and Enterprise.

Douglas plans to continue operating Human Capital and Sales & Marketing Strategies; it is seeking to sell President & CEO and Enterprise magazines. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In conjunction with the acquisition, Douglas has hired Tom Drozda, formerly of Cahners Business Information (now Reed Business Information), as group publisher responsible for Human Capital and Sales & Marketing Strategies and News.

Also joining the Douglas staff is Mike Bacidore, former executive editor of the two magazines under Hughes, who has been promoted to editor.

Douglas said it has retained West & Feinberg of Bethesda, Md., to explore strategic alternatives for President & CEO and Enterprise magazines. West & Feinberg represented the seller in the Hughes-Douglas transaction.
