Published on .

New York--Dow Jones & Co. reported sharply lower third-quarter profits and warned of a drop in fourth-quarter earnings as a result of disruption to business caused by the terrorist attacks. Dow Jones said third-quarter earnings were $17.4 million, or 20 cents a share, compared with $48.4 million, or 55 cents a share, for the same period last year. It also said fourth-quarter ad sales would fall 35% to 45% from the same period in 2001.
