Dow Jones reports steep ad linage drop for 'The Wall Street Journal'

South Brunswick, N.J.--Dow Jones & Co. Inc. said total advertising linage for The Wall Street Journal declined 45.2% in November, compared with a decrease of 11.9% in November 2000. Quarter-to-date total linage at The Wall Street Journal declined 42.7%, compared with a decrease of 1.7% last year. Year-to-date total linage declined 37.8%, compared with an increase of 18.7% last year. Dow Jones said the events of Sept. 11 continued to have a negative impact on the economic environment in November.
