DuPont, Cargill and Cenex to form e-marketplace

Published on .

Wilmington, Del.--Joining a growing number of large manufacturers bidding to seize the power of the Internet for themselves, DuPont, Minneapolis-based Cargill and Grove Heights, Minn.-based Cenex Harvest States Cooperatives have signed a letter of intent to create an e-commerce Web site aimed at farmers. Called Rooster.com, the e-marketplace will include farm retailers, cooperatives and manufacturers. It is intended to allow farmers to market their crops and to buy fertilizer, pesticides and other farm supplies on the Web. The site is scheduled to debut on May 1.
