Wilmington, Del.--E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. said Wednesday that DuPont Information Technology is now part of the company’s marketing and sales organization, which is led by John Hodgson, exec VP-chief marketing and sales officer.

With this strategic shift, DuPont said the Information Technology unit will focus on “finding, communicating with and retaining customers.”

“We can be using data and technology to provide better customer service, anticipate customer needs and ultimately, realize more sales opportunities,” said Bob Ridout, DuPont VP-CIO.

The company said SAP projects for collecting and tracking customer data will remain a priority in 2004. The company also said that DuPont IT will continue its role in operations.
