EDS buys most of Sabre's outsourcing

Published on .

Plano, Texas--In deals designed to bulk up its business of running computer systems for the airline industry, Electronic Data Systems Corp. on Friday said it was buying most of Sabre Holding Corp.'s outsourcing and software unit for $670 million. EDS also signed a 10-year, $2.2 billion contract to run Sabre's computer systems. Sabre's outsourcing revenue had been in decline as the company struggled to compete against providers such as EDS for big contracts to run computing operations at airlines.
