Plano, Texas--Electronic Data Systems Inc., on Wednesday entered into a three-year master licensing agreement to incorporate E.piphany Inc. software into its customer relationship management service offerings. The deal calls for EDS to tap E.piphany's E.5 suite of CRM tools for companies using its consulting and Internet-hosted services. A thrust behind the deal is to have the research and development teams of EDS and E.piphany work together on advanced analytical applications that improve the return on investment from CRM implementations. EDS has been pushing b-to-b marketers to consider real-time CRM systems, which deliver a picture of customer interaction regardless of whether customers are talking to a call center, sales representative or interacting with a Web site. CRM services will grow from $48.4 billion in 2000 to $148.8 billion by 2005, according to International Data Corp.
