EE Times Group buys DesignCon trade show

By Published on .

San Francisco—EE Times Group, a United Business Media company, announced Tuesday that it has acquired DesignCon, an exhibition and conference for the electronic design industry, from Professional Education International. DesignCon expands EE Times Group's portfolio into chip-level system design and other areas.

As part of the deal EE Times Group is also acquiring InfoVault, a member-based Web site for the electronic design and semiconductor industries; DesignCon's database of 30,000 electronics designers; and PCB Summit and IP Summit, two events co-located with DesignCon.

“DesignCon is highly complementary to our existing portfolio and broadens our international presence in the electronic design and semiconductor industry. It clearly builds on the strength of our existing offerings, adds new customers in niche markets and enhances our existing portfolio of events for the electronics industry,” David Blaza, VP-events and embedded systems for EE Times Group, said in a statement.
