EETimes website relaunch termed a ‘leap forward'

By Published on .

San Francisco—With today's official relaunch of EETimes.com, United Business Media's EE Times Group is aiming to take a “great leap forward rather than an incremental step,” said Paul Miller, CEO in an interview with BtoB.

EETimes.com now brings together the group's portfolio of previously separate websites under one brand, platform and navigation system, including Embedded.com, Embedded Internet Design, Designlines, Planet Analog and TechOnline. One primary goal of the site is to deeply integrate editorial and user-generated content.

Underlying the relaunched EETimes.com is a new content management system built in-house by EE Times' team of more than a dozen full-time developers, an unusual move at a time when royalty-free, open-source software is increasingly being used as a building block for media websites. “This is something that definitely could have been done more cheaply, but it was a strategic decision for us,” Miller said.
