EMarketer: Online ad sales lower than previously thought

New York—New studies indicate that online ad expenditures will be lower this year than previously expected.

EMarketer estimates U.S. online ads sales will decline 4.6% this year. In October, the consultancy predicted a 2.9% drop for the year.

Contributing to its revised forecast were worse-than-expected advertising downturns reported by major portals through the third quarter, and research from the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers underscoring the online ad market's continuing retrenchment.
