EMarketer projects slowdown in online advertising

Published on .

New York—Citing a weakening U.S. economy and a maturing online market, eMarketer projected in a report that online ad spending growth will slow to 19% this year, following three consecutive years of 30% or greater growth.

The report predicts that online ad spending will rebound in 2008 to 22.1% growth due to the presidential election and the summer Olympics.

According to the forecast, U.S. online ad spending will reach $36.50 billion by 2011, up from $16.40 billion in 2006.
